Steel Windows in Australia have evolved from yesteryear. From their humble beginnings as the defacto ‘Factory’ window to the architectural masterpieces seen today. Steels inherent ability to be absolutely minimal or vice-versa gives homeowners, specifiers and architects more choice. Coupled with modern performance glazing and the latest window and door furniture, steel windows are customisable like never before.
Steel windows still have the narrowest sightlines of any fenestration system in both single glazed and double/triple glazed. With custom and purposely designed profiles for total flexibility to suit any application, our steel windows and doors are designed to be as unobtrusive and as minimal as you desire.
Strength & Size
The use of steel allows window shapes and sizes never before seen and will never warp or twist. Our fully welded steel frames can support the heaviest of today’s performance glazing whilst maintaining a truly minimal look and overall uniformity between different window types. Enjoy improved security with less frame with more options than ever before.
With today’s 6-star plus energy guidelines, steel windows and doors are able to be glazed in almost any glass. From standard single glazing to high performance, Low Emissive Coated Double or Triple glazed Argon filled units to maximise thermal efficiency, noise reduction, security and view. Steels low frame to glass ratio further improves this. ARC Windows can also offer Thermally Broken steel profiles for the ultimate in steel window performance.
Steel, unlike other window and door frame systems, is sustainable. Our W range of profiles is produced from 100% recycled steel. While steel windows still require general basic maintenance and care as with any other window, their longevity is second to none. With steel windows throughout Australia’s oldest building being near 100 years old and still perfectly functional. Steel windows today, as with older units, can be restored, rectified, modified and/or improved.
Our Steel Frame Profile Range
W20 is our traditional heavy-duty framing system, 32mm wide with 5mm thick flanges, originally developed for commercial and industrial applications but now more commonly used in residential and commercial applications. It accommodates single and insulating glass units up to 16mm thick in the same profiles. All glazing, whether in fixed lights or casements, is in the same plane. It can be divided into small panes with tee glazing bars, having a table face width of no more than 29mm. Hinged casements, hung at top, bottom or side, and swing windows free pivoted horizontally or vertically, can all be constructed from the same kit of profiles.

An evolutionary development from W20, W40 offers continuity of style with the same casement sightlines as W20 but the 40mm wide profiles permit double glazing with 26mm thick units. The insulating glass units are drained and ventilated in accordance with modern best practice and gasket glazed to ensure consistent neatness and reliability
of seal. In addition to improved thermal performance, weathertightness is significantly enhanced and fittings can be less obtrusive with variable geometry hinges, friction pivots and multi-point locking cremone bolts concealed within the profiles.

With the new FerroFinestra thermal barrier system, W50 TB carries on window heritage in its most authentic form, proposing the same forms, proportions and overlapping effects of the original 20th Century hot rolled steel window profiles, refined by cold rolling technology. The innovative high-density polyurethane isolator used as a thermal barrier, together with the possibility of housing low emissivity glass up to 37 mm, allow to fully respond to current regulations and contemporary needs for comfort, also in harsher weather conditions, where windows made from solid steel profiles may not be sufficient.

Our own, custom in-house profile C30 is made from local, Australian steel where absolute minimalism is required. Our styles feature square edges and a truly flat, detail-free face. Best suited for internal windows, doors and servery use and external fixed windows, our C30 range is the standard for more modern applications whilst being the most economical. Coming in at an impressively thin 30mm face with 5mm thick flanges, this range will tick all the boxes, without breaking the bank. We also offer 40, 50 & 75mm custom suites to suit any application.
Tubular Profile Systems
Cold-formed tubular profiles in a variety of sightlines and frame depths extend the scope of steel construction into heavy-duty doors, screens and large format layouts. Retaining the attraction of long spans and slender lines, bringing maximum lightness and transparency to a façade, tubular profile systems lend themselves well to high traffic showcase entrances and large format applications. It also allows easy installation of shopfront hardware ‘in-stile’.
